Inle Lake is on the plateau of Shan State. It is in Nyaungshwe Township, not far from Taunggyi. It is 22 km long and 11km wide. Inle Lake is situated 1328 meters above sea level and is surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Shan State .It can be reached by car or flight via Heho from Yangon. Inle Lake is well known for its floating villages and gardens, traditional handicrafts and silk weaving, colorful markets, traditional method of fishing, the native Inthas (son of the lake) who one legged rowers complete each year during Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival in September/October. A visit to Myanmar would be meaningless without visiting Inle Lake.
